Omokoroa Rangers Football Team

Back: Liam Matthews, MacKenzee Harris, Scott Breen,
Joe Millard, Josh Temple, Sam Millard
Front: Simon VanTimmeren, Sam Breen, Aaron Black

Well the season has come to an end, so here is the full team story.

Scott coached the Omokoroa Rangers 10th Grade team this year. This was his first time "solo" coaching and he done a fantastic job. Mind you, he had a fantastic team to work with.

Sam, played in goal again this season.  He seems to have found a position that he really enjoys, as he has been in goal 3 years running, well apart from the first year, when he broke his wrist half way through the season (oops). Anyway, everyone seems glad that he is in goal and he has really owned it this season.

Scott and I decided to get the kids medals this year for player of the day, as they usually get a certificate and trophy, they keep for the week. But, we thought they deserved better than that and as it is not won on a rotation system, but on merit alone, the kids seem to work hard for it, which is a good thing.  Sam was fortunate enough to win it on three occasions, and we had such a good team, that by the end of the season, everyone had managed to get the award!

It was a hard season, but we managed to win almost every game. The weather got in the way a couple of times and postponed some games, but all in all, the team was amazing.  We proved how good we were by finishing 2nd in the league.  That means we could be going up into the Premiership League next season.

At the end of the season, we had a selection of individual trophies to give out.  It was a hard decision to make and with the help of the parents, this is how it went:

Player of the Season - Josh Temple
Most Improved - Sam Millard
Most Dependable - Sam Breen and MacKenzee Harris

Scott got a brilliant present off the team and parents. His own Omokoroa Rangers top, with "Coach" on the back, but mine was even better. It had "Coaches Boss" written on the back.....they must know me well.

We are all looking forward to the next season.  It is going to be hard if we move up to the Premiership League, but I am sure we can do well.
